AT&T Sued for Age Discrimination
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has filed suit against AT&T alleging age discrimination, reports The New York Times.
The commission claims that by denying older employees the chance to be rehired solely because they left under early retirement plans, AT&T had discriminated against them since they were not given the same opportunity to apply for re-employment with the company as younger workers.
While AT&T won’t comment specifically on the suit, spokesman Michael Coe says,
“I can tell you AT&T makes diversity and inclusion a top priority, and has received national recognition for its programs and performance.”
