Google Developing 64-Bit Chrome for Linux

Google says it has begun working on a 64-bit version of its Chrome Web browser for Linux users. The 64-bit version under development is a port of Chromium, the open-source code on which Chrome is based.

Unofficial and highly experimental 64-bit Chromium builds are available for Ubuntu users, reports Ars Technica. For the moment, Google is focusing its development efforts on making the V8 Java Script engine at the core of Chrome compatible with Linux and Mac. Windows support is coming, but some developers have questioned why Windows support is not currently in the works, says PC Pro.
