Google Chrome Celebrates First Anniversary

Happy birthday, Google Chrome!

Today marks the one-year anniversary of Google’s Chrome Web browser. While the browser quickly caught on with some, including IT Business Edge’s Ken Hardin, Chrome hasn’t exactly caught on with the masses. After a year, its share of the browser market hovers between 2.8 percent and 3.5 percent, according to ZDNet’s Adrian Kingsley-Hughes.

Chrome received an early birthday present from Sony, which announced that all its U.S. Vaio-branded PCs will use Chrome as the default browser. Versions of Chrome for Linux and Mac are also on the horizon, says TechRadar UK. Both of these developments should help with its browser share battles.

While Chrome hasn’t conquered the world or the browser market, it clearly is here to stay for at least another year.
