Google has added the ability for Google Voice users to receive text messages by e-mail. The move gives users a long requested feature, says TechCrunch’s Michael Arrington.

Now Google Voice will send users an e-mail alert every time they receive a new SMS on their voice number. Users can then reply to the SMS messages from e-mail as well. According to CNET News, a new Labs feature also lets users play their Google Voice messages within the Gmail viewer.
