Verizon Plans Mobile Device Management Service
Verizon has announced a service, Managed Mobility Solutions, to help large enterprises secure and manage mobile devices, reports InfoWorld.
The service is designed to help with device provisioning and deprovisioning, expense management, asset tracking, security, troubleshooting and performance monitoring with the aid of Sybase security tools and Quickcomm Software Solutions for expense management. The service will cover BlackBerry, Windows Mobile and Symbian devices regardless of the mobile network being used, according to Network World.
The service actually is a series of modules that are available separately: inventory and expense management; logistics; mobile device management; mobile security and application management. The first four modules will roll out Sept. 30 in the United States and 19 European countries. Countries in Asia-Pacific will be added later in the year. The fifth module, application management, will debut in 2010.
The price is expected to be $3 to $10 per device per year.
